VINNIE PAUL Says New HELLYEAH Album Is 'A Little More Southern, A Little More Rock And Roll'

Revolver TV conducted an interview with HELLYEAH/ex-PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott at the February 17 press conference held at the Rainbow Bar & Grill on the world famous Sunset Strip in Los Angeles to announce the nominees for the second annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards.

When asked about the status of the new HELLYEAH album, Vinnie replied, "We're about three-quarters of the way done with the record. It'll be out June 1st. Our tour starts April 24th in Tampa Bay, Florida, and we're taking this thing around the world for two years solid. I'm loving the record, everything that we've done to this point I'm really proud of. It picks up where the last record left off. It's a little more Southern, a little more rock and roll; it's got some very, very metal moments on it, too. It's just a wide variety of all the different kind of influences that all of us grew up on, and I'm really proud of it."

HELLYEAH has been confirmed for this year's 98 Rockfest, set to take place April 24 at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. The band will also perform at WJRR's Earthday Birthday 17: Almost Legal on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Tinker Field in Orlando, Florida; and at this year's Lazerfest on Sunday, May 16 at Indianola Balloon Grounds in Indianola, Iowa.

The hard rock "supergroup," which also features ex-DAMAGEPLAN bassist Bob "Zilla" Kakaha, MUDVAYNE singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett, and NOTHINGFACE axeman Tom Maxwell, issued its 2007 debut through Epic Records.

Abbott, who bounced back with HELLYEAH from the devastating 2004 murder of his brother and bandmate "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, said about the band, "The guys from HELLYEAH and the incredible music we've created have brought me back to what I love . . . The vibe is positive with a kick-your-ass attitude."

HELLYEAH's self-titled debut has sold more than 350,000 copies since arriving in April 2007.
